I employed Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics as a framework to systematically assess the usability of the three websites: www.manojstores.com, www.educationalaids.in, and https://playgroundsystems.in/

Problem Statement

The websites for Manoj Stores, Educational Aids, and Playground Systems suffer from significant usability issues, including poor navigation, inadequate content presentation, technical glitches, lack of essential features, and accessibility shortcomings. These problems hinder user engagement and satisfaction, affecting the websites’ effectiveness in serving their target audience and meeting business objectives.

1. Heuristic Evaluation Criteria:

      The evaluation criteria encompassed various aspects of usability, including:

  • Navigation: Assessing the ease of navigation and clarity of the navigation structure.
  • Content Presentation: Evaluating the organization and readability of content across the websites.
  • Error Handling: Identifying how effectively errors are prevented, detected, and resolved.
  • Feedback and Response: Analyzing the responsiveness of the websites to user actions.
  • Accessibility: Considering the inclusivity and accessibility features implemented.

    • Navigation issues: Lack of structure and user-friendliness.

3. Recommendations:

Based on the evaluation findings, I recommend the following actions:

  • Technical Fixes: Resolve backend/frontend issues affecting navigation, add to cart functionality, and SEO optimization.
  • Design Enhancements: Implement UI/UX improvements to enhance user experience and visual appeal.
  • Feature Implementations: Introduce additional features such as hot deals, user-generated content sections, and multiple payment options.

problem faced in development

Challenges in implementing the design solutions may include:

  • Technical Constraints: Addressing limitations in the current technology stack using wordpress, As they want to keep the same tech stack as they have already spent a lot on the development.
  • Resource Limitations: Allocating sufficient resources for development and implementation.
  • Organizational Barriers: less Budget and lack of knowledge of development of website in developers that they hire

Solutions

4. Design Solutions:

To address the identified issues, I propose the following design solutions:

  • Navigation Redesign: Restructure the navigation bar for clarity and ease of use.
  • UI Overall: Redesign UI elements for consistency and improved aesthetics.
  • Feature Integration: Integrate new features seamlessly into the existing layout for enhanced functionality. like Payment Gateway and other that have been mentioned above.

Addressing the identified usability issues and implementing the proposed design solutions will greatly improve the overall user experience and effectiveness of the websites. By prioritizing user needs and investing in user-centered design, these websites can better meet the expectations of their target audience and achieve their business objectives.
